Tracks 1-8 were recorded at the opening concert for the exhibition SOD & Sodie Sock at the Secession, Vienna, on September 22, 1998. Tracks 9-12 were recorded during the construction of the Sod & Sodie Sock installation, at which time a cast of volunteers, dressed as soldiers, were videotaped performing various activities within the space. Track 13 documents the sound sculpture Organs, which consists of two plastic chord organs, loaned separately by Kelley and McCarthy to Herman Nitsch for his performance of the Orgies Mysteries Theatre in Venice, CA on April 8, 1978. McCarthy's organ is damaged so that it emits a constant drone; Kelly's organ has two keys taped down to produce a constant drone. The two organs have now been joined together again in an eternal duet. |
